Through modern, interactive exhibits and authentic memorabilia, the Stax Museum of American Soul Music commemorates Stax Records and the artists that helped shaped the company's soul music focus. Including items from and exhibits about legends like Aretha Franklin, Isaac Hayes, The Jackson Five and Otis Redding and the Bar-Kays, the museum is set on the original site of the record company's headquarters and also includes a century-old church that helps illuminate the style's gospel music roots. The museum is a few miles outside of downtown Memphis, just south of Elmwood Cemetery.
