Offering the perfect way to experience Tennessee's natural beauty without leaving the comforts of the city, the Lichterman Nature Center features 65 acres of untouched woodlands, marshes and meadows set around its fantastic indoor facilities. The Backyard Wildlife Center is one of the center's most popular attractions, featuring living creatures in natural-seeming habitats, educational information and lovely viewing areas. Surrounded by three miles of walking paths, the center often runs outdoor educational programs open to the general public, and visitors can also stroll the paths alone looking for the wildlife that calls the area home. The center is just a few miles east past the campus of the University of Memphis.
